XYZ Atom is a augmented reality (AR) headset that features advanced spatial mapping and real-time object recognition. According to XYZ Reality (n.d), the XYZ Atom AR headset is packaged into lightweight, ergonomic headsets designed to reduce fatigue even during extended use, using its robust software platform to enable seamless customization and system integration. With high-performance graphics and low-latency interactions, the technology offers an immersive experience, setting a global standard for all AR applications, specifically in smart constructions, where precision, conceptualization, communication and efficiency are essential. According to XR Today (2023), AR is transforming industries such as education, healthcare, manufacturing, and entertainment by solving complex challenges in ways only AR is capable of.

To enhance the current working conditions and efficiency on Singapore's construction sites, Singapore's Building and Control Authority (BCA) should subsidize the adoption of the XYZ Atom AR headset across Construction companies, enabling widespread utilization of its superior visualization and seamless communication capabilities.

The Atom supports construction companies by providing superior visualisation giving workers real-time, accurate digital information overlaid onto their physical environment.  XYZ Reality (2025) emphasizes bridging the design-construction gap through BIM visualization on-site, ensuring workers adhere to the design specifications. The Engineer (2022) further highlights how the Atom brings construction sites to life, improving execution accuracy by showing workers exactly where elements should be placed. This combats one of the biggest challenges by workers where interpreting 2D blueprints is a major source of errors. By replacing ambiguous drawings with interactive 3D models, the Atom minimizes misinterpretations and costly rework. Workers can now directly compare the digital model to the existing structure, ensuring correct installation. This real-time feedback loop allows immediate discrepancy identification and correction. Arowoiya (2021) reinforced the importance of real-time information, which the Atom readily provides, empowering workers to make informed decisions and precise task execution. Therefore, through BCA's subsidisation of the Atom, more construction sites will have access to the Atom's precise, real-time visualizations significantly reduce design interpretation errors, leading to higher construction precision and minimized rework.

The Atom also supports constructions companies with seamless communication abilities, allowing for hands-free communication and remote assistance by harmoniously integrating with cloud platforms, enabling faster and more accurate construction processes. Aec Magazine (2022) highlights that the Atom AR Helmet’s integration with BIM 360 allows real-time data synchronization between on-site workers and remote experts. This cloud-based connection facilitates immediate issue resolution and ensures that teams access the most up-to-date project information without delays. By leveraging with such advanced connectivity, the Atom AR Helmet significantly reduces any miscommunication and project delays, which are currently one of the key barriers in the construction sector. As Arowoiya (2021) emphasizes, real-time information sharing and efficient communication are critical success factors for construction project execution. Thus, by subsidizing the Atom AR Helmet, it allows more construction sites to benefit from the Atom AR helmet's seamless communication capabilities, enabling faster and more accurate construction processes.

While the Atom has many strong advantages with construction companies, critics might argue that subsidizing the Atom could impose a significant financial burden on BCA due to the large number of construction companies in Singapore. According to XYZ Reality (n.d), XYZ Reality appears to operate under a business-to-business (B2B) model as evident by the Atom's undisclosed pricing, targeting construction firms through direct sales and select partnerships. VR Compare (n.d.) also confirms that the Atom’s pricing remains undisclosed, further indicating its positioning in the B2B market. As mentioned by Virto Commerce (n.d), B2B models typically incur higher costs than B2C due to specialized features such as bulk ordering, customized pricing, and enterprise system integration. These complexities contribute to the Atom’s high price, which inevitably will impose more financial burdens to BCA if it subsidizes the Atom.

However, the long-term economic advantages of subsidizing the Atom outweigh the high cost of the Atom for BCA.  As indicated by Arowoiya (2021), real-time communication and data sharing are critical factors for construction success, leading to reduced project costs and improved sustainability. Government subsidies can be scaled to ensure equitable access for both large corporations and small to medium sized enterprises, fostering wider industry adoption, driving innovation, and enhancing global competitiveness ultimately improving the economy of Singapore in the long run. Ultimately, while the initial investment may be high, the long-term gains would justify the cost for BCA.

Through subsidizing the adoption of the XYZ Atom AR headset, BCA will be able to significantly enhance the current working conditions and efficiency on Singapore’s construction sites. The headset’s impressive ability to provide superior visualization and seamless communication features will drive productivity and innovation within the construction industry which will contribute to cost savings and improved infrastructure quality in the long run. In the end, by allowing equitable access to this transformative tool through subsidies, BCA will empower construction companies of all sizes to embrace digitalization, ensuring a more professional, efficient and error-free construction projects in Singapore.
